Soul Brother Kevin Karting With The Stars

Kevin is one of our first celebrities to volunteer to help Karting With The Stars.  We are extremely grateful to the generosity Kevin has showed us by not only signing up to be one of our first celebrity drivers, but also allowing Doctor Portee and Bob Melia time to speak during his radio show about our event.   Off air Kevin’s generosity continued by offering to recruit other celebrities to race in the event.

Longtime Clear Channel Talk WTKS (Real Radio 104.1)/Orlando personality “Soul Brother Kevin” has exited the station.

SBK has relaunched “SBK LIVE” as a podcast at sbkliveradio.com.

SBK Live’s final broadcast is tonight

December 7, 2012

The Twitterverse is abuzz with fury over the news (revealed yesterday) that Real Radio 104.1 FM has cancelled the ridiculously popular nighttime show, SBK Live. SBK Live was on the air for four years.

Tonight, SBK Live will broadcast its final show, live from a McDonald’s in South Orlando. You can even show up and bid the show farewell in person. We’ll miss you, Soul Brother Kevin!

Happytown: Shakeup at Real Radio 104.1 FM

One other casualty of the shakeup was an entire awesome local talk show, “SBK Live.” Despite its seeming popularity, the station yanked host Soul Brother Kevin and his crew, who’d been doing the show for the past four years, from their 7-11 p.m. slot. The final “SBK Live” was broadcast on Dec. 7 from a McDonald’s in South Orlando, and it was something of a wake for the show – listeners mourned and protested, the crew told war stories and made the best of it.

Unlike a lot of those hit during Clear Channel’s National Firing Day, Soul Brother Kevin landed on his feet – he lost his show, but he was given a gig on “Monsters in the Morning” (presumably, the one that opened up when Dennis was kicked off). Incidentally, SBK got his start with Real Radio as an intern with the Monsters eight years ago.
